Aamir Khan recently expressed regret over premiering his production, Laapataa Ladies, on OTT just eight weeks after its theatrical release.
The Indian actor, who received widespread acclaim for his 2024 production, brought the comedy-drama back into the spotlight with his candid remarks.
In an exclusive conversation with News 18, the Dangal star said, “I believe Laapataa Ladies would have done really well in theatres if it hadn’t premiered on Netflix just eight weeks later. The word of mouth was so strong. According to me, if it hadn’t gone to Netflix so soon, it would have been a huge success.”
Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, features Sparsh Shrivastava, Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, and Ravi Kishan.
The story revolves around two brides who are accidentally swapped during a train ride, and the chaos that unfolds as their grooms try to find them.
Divy Nidhi Sharma’s comedy-drama, produced by Aamir, Aparna Purohit, and Ravi Bhagchandka, was released on March 1, 2024.
On the professional front, the Lagaan actor is currently gearing up for his much-awaited film Sitaare Zameen Par, alongside Genelia Deshmukh.
For the unversed, the sequel to the 2007 original Taare Zameen Par is scheduled to release on Friday, June 20.
